Why do most new years resolutions fail? We tend to fall off on progress for our goals at some point in the year, but why? Sometimes we set goals that are too broad or create too many goals to reasonably achieve.
To help with setting achievable resolutions this year, here are 3 tips for creating a successful new years resolution:
Get Specific: Instead of resolving to "exercise more" or "eat healthier," try getting more granular with your goal, such as "go to the gym three times a week" or "eat at least two servings of vegetables a day." This will make it easier to track your progress and stay motivated.
Create an Action Plan: Decide on specific steps you will take to achieve your goals, and make a schedule or calendar to help you stay on track. For example, if your goal is to exercise more, you might schedule specific times for workouts on your calendar. This takes away the impulsive decision of having to carve out the time - it's already done in advance.
Keep it simple: Don't try to tackle too many goals at once, as this can be overwhelming and lead to frustration. Choose one or two goals to focus on, and give yourself time to make progress and see results. Remember, it's better to make small, consistent changes than to try to overhaul your entire lifestyle all at once.
