Leadership Coaching For All Leaders: Why All Levels of Leadership Can Benefit from Coaching

Updated: Dec 10, 2022

Leadership Coaching can be for everyone. Executives, managers of all levels, supervisors, and even potential new leaders can all benefit from coaching. That is why my coaching practice - EK Coaching - is working with leaders of any kind to help develop them into conscious, aware, and empathic examples for their teams and themselves.

The earliest forms of coaching (outside of sports) have been around coaching executives. Fortunately, there has been a recent shift towards coaching other leaders as well. At EK Coaching, we are proudly participating as part of that shift. This is because we see the benefit of helping every leader succeed as a net benefit to the organizations they belong to.

Why should organizations consider coaching? Because the coaching modality puts the leader (aka the client) into the driver's seat. The coaching sessions are driven by the client, and the dynamic between both coach & client is a partnership. Where consulting and mentoring come from a place of "expert" advice or personal experience, the coaching modality acknowledges the client as the expert in their own lives and their profession. The coach's expertise is in coaching, which utilizes tools such as intuitive listening and empowering questions to help the client. Any insight or education the coach offers is contingent on the client's permission to do so; allowing the client to remain in the driver's seat for their session.

When it comes to education, that does not mean that a coach is "teaching" a client how to be a leader. Rather, the coach is educating on core concepts and common language to create the space for the client to grow their own insights on how to be the best leader they can be. Those core concepts and common languages vary depending on the coaching practice and their experience and coach training education.

At EK Coaching, our education is based on our training from the world-renowned Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (aka iPEC). We educate through core concepts based on consciousness, which reveals to the client their own level of awareness on how they think/believe/act. With time and effort, a client will realize their ability to choose how they think/believe/act in any situation. Self-awareness and choice are powerful tools for any leader, as they can show up each day in control of their life versus their life being in control of them.

The goal of EK Coaching is to provide leaders of all levels and experience with the ability to be more conscious, engaged, empathetic, and empowered. These skills translate to both executive-level leaders and emerging leaders alike, providing organizations with a commonality among their leadership. This has the potential to address any leadership inconsistencies amongst the staff, and provide a similar & empowering experience for both the employees and the leaders alike.

Leaders of all levels can benefit from coaching. Please feel free to reach out if you want to inquire more about what coaching looks like for your organization.
